Following on the work exploring the still life motif, I did two 2-week residencies at the Vermont Studio Center, one in November of ’16, and the other in May of ’17. During this concentrated time things moved rapidly, to the flat, archetypal shapes of vessels and simple objects.There seem to be two branches to this work: one is flat big shapes, cut into templates and traced then painted, and the other uses smaller, drawn shapes that become more playful.
