Incorporating Monotype II
Adding more: Incorporating Monotype
As mentioned, I (re)learned etching and monoprinting at the Women’s Studio Workshop, back in August of 2008.
The summer of 2013, I took a 4-week workshop at Fleisher in monoprinting with Rebecca Gilbert. That was the perfect opportunity to have a teacher and ask questions about many of the pieces that were thus far, works in progress.
The class energized me, as well as clarifying the terms for us: monoprinting is a one-of-a kind print that works from an image etched into the plate; monotypes are one-of-a-kind prints where the plate is inked and the image is worked directly into the ink.
I do the latter, returning multiple times to the same image, using different colors and shapes. So these are called (thank you, Rebecca) multiple-drop monotypes.
